Many people choose to raise their families in Central Oregon because of public schools that still focus on quality education.  The region’s quality of life helps attract talented and innovative teachers who instill a zest for learning and personal achievement.  They are committed to ensuring Central Oregon students are well-prepared for the changing demands of both secondary education and the job market.

Secondary
Oregon is a leader in implementing a new model of primary and secondary education.  In 1991, the Oregon legislature passed the Oregon Education Act for the 21st Century.  This legislation provides that most students in Oregon schools will exit the 10th grade with a Certificate of Initial Mastery (CIM), having already achieved the skills of past high school graduates.  For grades 11 and 12, all Central Oregon schools offer the Certificate of Advanced Mastery (CAM), which signifies that students are workforce ready and have the skills to succeed in post-secondary pursuits.  The goal of these new and challenging standards are to create the nation’s top students and future labor force.

The Business and Employee Development department delivers industry-specific courses and workshops tailored to business and industry’s changing needs.  A wide range of continuing education is offered for personal and professional development.
